The Official Supports Club are currently working with Swindon Town Footbal Club and the large Goan Community in the past and they are big football fans, but most follow premier league sides. There are circa 20,000 Goans living in and around Swindon with many living around the County Ground area. However most have never been to a game at the CG. I managed to make contact with Iggy Dias who is very influential within the Goan community and has been involved in the Goan festival that is held every year.
The club were very interested in engaging with the Goan community and a meeting was arranged. Iggy also brought along Zico who runs a football training group for Goan children. The club invited the group in along with there parents, giving them a look at the Stadium along with some freebies and have also given out letters for them to register for free tickets for the home game against Salford in January. The Foundation have also been engaged with and are keen to set up a training session for the children at Foundation Park in the new year.
Some members from the Goan communities made a visit to the County Ground earlier today (Thursday the 11th December). Parents and children attended the event at the club, members of the Goan community visited the Legends Lounge for some activites.
